Wheelchair Clients

If you're in a wheelchair, it can make the activities of daily living, such as having a shower, preparing a favourite meal, getting dressed, or going to work, more difficult. Our Occupational Therapists at OT4YOU use their knowledge and skills to help their client develop or recover daily living and work skills, either through the use of purposeful activity or via specialist aids and adaptations such as chair lifts and suggested bathroom conversions. They will also help with Wheelchair and Seating Assessments, looking at providing a wheelchair that meets mobility needs at home and in the community.  The chair needs to fit the client and support their postural, sitting and mobility needs.

 How Can OT4YOU Help Me?

Our occupational therapists at OT4YOU will begin by identifying your mobility, seating and postural needs. We will be identifying the activities you need and want to do and look at mobility solutions to support engagement in everyday activities. Assessments are completed around your physical range of movement, postural seated support, pain and skin integrity needs. Mobility assessments consider the environments you engage in and make recommendations around the purchase of appropriate wheelchair and seating for your needs.

They will then look at what you may need to carry out particular activities in your everyday life, and help you explore new ways of doing things. They'll talk to you about the wheelchair you currently have, or suggest a particular wheelchair for you based on their wheelchair assessment training, and will discuss with you the types of activities you would like to be able to do more easily in everyday life.
